About the Program
It is well-documented that the way to achieve world-class expertise in any skill is a matter of practicing the correct way for a long time, a total of around 10,000 hours. Yet many youth athletes take three months off of volleyball each year. Studies have shown that students lose roughly two months of learning over three months of school break, and this attritional effect translates into sport as well, where the hard-won skill can atrophy if it is not used during the summer months.
What if, instead of losing their skill, youth athletes built and expanded their volleyball knowledge in a holistically nurturing elite training environment? This is the vision behind the NextGen Okanagan Selects Elite Summer Program. This comprehensive initiative is built around NextGen Training’s Four Foundational Pillars: Technical Skills, Mental Fortitude & Resilience, Agility & Strength Training, and Team Play Dynamics.
This six-week program, running July 6th - August 16th, is non club-affiliated, with players from all across the Okanagan encouraged to try out. The program runs on “stacked” days (2 days/week) to help those driving into Kelowna from the surrounding communities. Coaches for this program include Team BC coaches such as Jadon Ward, Bryce Turner and Jared Hanenburg. Program runs July & August, details and practice info available below!
This year we are running teams for the 2025-26 age groups (this current club season) of U13 Girls, U14 Girls, U15 Girls, U16-17 Girls & U15-16 Boys.
